This DVD Is Volume 3 Of 4 The CBS Radio Mystery indeed heralded the revival of the Golden Age of Radio. With the fine actor E. G. Marshall as the host, the series brought back those great days of mystery, suspense, drama and a touch of history. At first it aired daily, a monumental task when you consider this. But after some six years it went to five times a week. Mr. Marshall hosted the series until its final year when Tammy Grimes took over the chore on Feb 1, 1982. For the most part long-time radio personalities were heard with a smattering of TV and movie actors doing their part. Almost all of the story lines were newly written and produced, but there were some adaptions based on novels by Edgar Allan Poe, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Charles Dickens, Victor Hugo, O. Henry, Nathaniel Hawthorne to name a few. The end of the series came quite quickly in early December 1982 with re-runs filling in the balance of the year. Over 300 Episodes!

About the Author
Maggie Dana's first riding lesson, at the age of five, was less than wonderful. In fact, she hated it so much, she didn't try again for another three years. But all it took was the right instructor and the right horse and she was hooked for life.

Her new riding stable was slap bang in the middle of Pinewood Studios, home of Britain's movie industry. So while learning to groom horses, clean tack, and muck stalls, Maggie also got to see the stars in action. Some even spoke to her. 

Born and raised in England, Maggie now makes her home on the Connecticut shoreline, where she divides her time between hanging out with the family's horses and writing her next book in the Timber Ridge Riders series.

Great Stuff!

Once again Maggie Dana writes a fast-moving, horse-centered adventure featuring best friends Kate and Holly. With just enough family drama, boy-friend issues, and of course controversy with Kate's nemesis Angela Dean, Ms. Dana manages to make each of these equine-focused novels (this is Book 5 of the series) fresh and new. Chasing Dreams features a rescue in the snow, where a trick by Kate's horse Tapestry proves invaluable. This is great stuff, and young teens and kids will gobble it up.

Commitment vs. Orneriness

Fifth book I've read in this series and find it is as wonderfully written as the first four books. Kate is a great rider, now owns her own horse but runs into more problems with Angela, whose mother owns Timber Ridge. Kate is very dedicated to her horse, the various jumps, etc. takes good care of her horse and respects the team. Angela is lazy, does not practice much, has others clean her horse and stall, etc., but still seems to come out tops (with a good bit of cheating and shenanigans not caring who is hurt). Kate's close friend, Courtney, encourages her to tell what she knows about Angel's mischievous tricks (although there is no proof) to come out on top all the time. However, Kate refuses to be a tattle tale or "squeal" on this ornery teammate. You just have to read this one to determine if the truth comes out in time for Kate to continue in these contests.

Brilliant series

Possible bias as I already adore the series but the stakes keep rising for Kate! Just when you think Mean Queen (my nickname) Angela can't get any nastier in her tricks, she does. Without fail every chapter had me on edge, scared that Kate would end up suspended, taken away from her beloved Tapestry (I so approve of the craft themed name) or be put in financial ruin. Holly is a wonderful best friend, always supporting Kate through life's obstacles.

A newcomer, Angela's little sister (I may have forgotten her if she was in the last book, lousy memory!), stole my heart. She is a sweet girl, total opposite of Angela and features heavily in Kate's life for various reasons. I sincerely hope I see more of her in the future. I can't give details but I inwardly cheered at the end when Kate sees the headteacher - sometimes the truth can't be avoided but it can be read between the lines. Tapestry's lying down trick is a life saver, and there was the usual mucking out and cleaning up of horse gear that I as a non-riding horse book lover enjoyed. They are still too big and too far off the ground for me to ride, but I admire them. What will happen next for Kate & Holly?

Informative, But Too Many Typos

While my 6-year old sons did enjoy this eBook, the typos were glaring and could have been easily caught with a proof read. One incorrect item has words indicating it is correct, even though it isn't.
Grammar and correctness matter even more for children, hence the low rating.

Interesting instructions at the front, although distracts from launching straight into the adventure, it is a children's book after all. Probably suited to much older kids, as it talks about a snake and how many people it kills each year. Not something for little kids, I think. On the plus side, it is interactive and though provoking.

The newest entry to the growing ranks of bonnet fiction writers is Fisher, who has written Amish nonfiction (Amish Peace). This Lancaster County tale centers on Carrie Weaver, who marries an Amish man for convenience though her heart is committed to another. Carrie struggles to care for her hemophiliac younger brother as she lives with the consequences of her own choices. The outline is promising, but the execution flawed. An intriguing heroine shows the author's potential, but major problems compromise the book's overall merit. The plot creaks too loudly; a few too many characters die to complicate the action, and the character who poses the biggest threat is more a caricature than credible villain. Minor characters—an oversized lovable ex-con, a harpy stepmother—likewise mostly serve plot rather than populate a convincingly drawn world. The language can get adjective-laden and trite (The air had grown thick and heavy). Bonnet fiction devotees might be able to overlook some problems, but this is not a strong new offering in the subgenre. (Jan.)

Great read

I'm a guy, and guys probably aren't supposed to read Amish romance books - but oh well. If I did what everyone else thought I should do, or not do, I'd never have any fun. I have read a few in my lifetime. One of my favorite vacation spots, second only to The Outer Banks, is Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, so I do enjoy books that take place there, such as this one.

I haven't read a lot of Amish books of this type, but I do think it is one of the best I have read. Move aside, Beverly Lewis, you have some new competition!

There is a lot of Amish beliefs/traditions in the book, but through one of the characters, there is also shown grace, and a side of God the Amish don't normally see - and I am afraid some of us non-Amish never see - the God of love and grace. The book is a good story - very likable characters, and it has its low places and high, sad and happy - but among the great story is the message that we can know we are going to Heaven, and God does love us and want a relationship with us - not just a far off worship of fear.

This is Suzanne Woods Fisher's first novel, and I would say she hit one out of the ballpark with this one.

Not a woman of God.

I'm not a woman of God,but I was raised in Arthur Illinois. I lived with the Amish there, my grandmother taught them in a one room schoolhouse....

This is worth a read I couldn't put it down not for a moment it moved me and made me view my life a bit differently. This story will change you...let it.

Amish traditions seems very enticing

I am a devout Christian person and I loved how this story showed genuine caring and fellowship with each other. As a Christian I long to see this within the Christian church but our church is so different. I think because the church overall is multicultural, it is so hard to understand when people think different than you. I identify with Carrie because she had a good head on her shoulders and she was able to sense when things were good for her and when they were not and she treated people good. From the book I see that the behavior of Amish people tends to be according to how they feel more so than the biblical word, so in that aspect their culture and Christianity are similar. At this point, I wish I could convert and live a much simplier life.
