Joseph J. Adamski spent 12 years as a computer professional at aerospace and financial services companies and is an Associate Professor Emeritus at Grand Valley State University. He has worked as a computer professional and educator for over 40 years with a special interest in database management and personal uses of databases.
Kathleen Finnegan is a co-author on New Perspectives on Microsoft Access and has edited and managed many other successful textbooks on Microsoft applications for Cengage Learning's Course Technology. She has taught various computer courses for corporate training and high-tech companies and has developed courseware as both a technical writer and editor, with over 20 years of experience in this field.

Needs Cliffs Notes

First off let me say that the book arrived on time (I chose 24hr shipping) and was in excellent condition. Props to the seller!
As far as the contents of the book itself, I will say that it is one of the better computer books I've read.
So why only 3 stars?
Well, most computer books are downright awful. This one isn't, but at the same time it's hard for me to recommend it highly on it's own merits (other than the fact that it's better than most out there.)
The main complaint I have about the book is that it tries to make it's target audience novice computer users. Let's be frank, if you are a complete computer novice the odds of you needing to work in Microsoft Access are fairly slim and probably doomed to fail. And by computer novice I mean people who don't understand that clicking a button will bring up a dialogue box, or that "hold down the Shift key, press the F2 key, and then release the Shift key" can be reduced to "Press Shift+F2." This would be the equivalent of writing a book on how to restore a classic car for someone who's never even changed their own oil.
The premise of the book is very good. You have a tutorial section for each chapter where you are the "database professional" for a fictitious company. You set up their database for them and teach them about it. A great idea since teaching something is a sure way to understand it. This method is broken up into two sections.
You have the "story section" (as I like to call it) and your "Directions section" (where you are working on the database.) The story section generally explains why you are doing something. The directions tell you how to do it. Unfortunately the directions can get long and convoluted as they try to adapt them for the novice, occasionally slipping in bits of the story so you remember why you're doing something. Usually by this point you've read through so much extraneous info that you can't remember *what* you are doing. For example:
"5. Click InvoicePaid in the box, and then click the Next button."
